Development Roadmap
We are currently at CBB 0.9. There are a variety of features that
need to be included (or fixed) before we can consider CBB to be a
complete financial program appropriate for home use and release
version CBB 1.0. In addition to the minor bugs/tweaks listed on the
tweaks page, there are some significant
features. Here is a (perhaps partial) list of those features:
- a method for printing checks
- more detailed error handling
After CBB 1.0, there are several possibilities for the next release or
two. We would like to release a series of versions including various
new features as we add them. However, we'd like community feedback
about which features are most urgent. There are a few ways to express
your preferences. One is clearly to implement the feature in
question! Another is to send in your vote on different features,
either those listed or your own suggestions. Another option is to
vote with your pocket - see our section on
financial support for more information. Here is a list of the
various features we are considering:
- reverse engineering on Quicken / MS Money binary files, obviating
the need for QIF import / export
- locking mechanism for date ranges
- gtk+ / Qt versions of the GUI front end
- support for multiple frontends accessing the same database
- conversion of the backend to a semi-enterprise level dB such as
mysql
- professional accounting features, such as invoices
- better implementation for scheduled transactions
- broader range of account types
- search mechanisms
